What Changes: Brakes Last Longer

Hybrids and EVs use regenerative braking, which slows the car by capturing energy back into the battery rather than relying purely on friction brakes — this genuinely reduces brake pad wear compared to an equivalent conventional car, often extending pad life considerably.

What Changes: No Traditional Transmission Servicing (on Most EVs)

Full electric vehicles typically use a much simpler single-speed transmission with far fewer moving parts than a conventional automatic — significantly less to service in this area, though it's worth checking your specific model's requirements.

What's Different: High-Voltage Systems

Hybrid and EV high-voltage battery systems require specific training and safety procedures to work on safely — not every general workshop is currently equipped for this specific work, so it's worth confirming a workshop's specific hybrid/EV capability before booking.

What Doesn't Change: Tyres, Suspension, Cabin Filters

These wear items need the same attention as any other car — hybrids and EVs tend to be heavier due to battery weight, which can mean slightly faster tyre wear in some cases, not less.
