Questions to Ask Before Any Quoted Repair

1. Can I See the Actual Wear or Fault?

A reputable workshop can show you a worn pad, a measurement below spec, or a diagnostic code on a scanner — not just tell you something needs replacing. If a shop is reluctant to show evidence, that's worth noting.

2. Is This Urgent, or Can It Wait?

Ask directly whether an item is safety-critical or can reasonably be scheduled for a future visit. A workshop being upfront about what genuinely can't wait versus what's precautionary is a good sign.

3. What's the Breakdown of Parts vs Labour?

An itemised quote lets you compare against other quotes fairly and understand what you're actually paying for. A single lump-sum figure without a breakdown is harder to evaluate.

4. Does This Come With a Warranty?

Reputable workshops back their parts and labour with a warranty. Ask what it covers and for how long — this also tells you something about how confident the workshop is in the work.

5. What Happens If I Say No to Part of It?

You should be able to approve some items and decline others without the workshop refusing to proceed at all, unless declining genuinely makes the job unsafe to complete (in which case they should explain exactly why).
